How to secure your file is one of the main questions when anyone uploads their files to the cloud and most importantly when we speak about free services that provide such services, we cannot think of many. In this article, we are going to talk about pDrive, which is a “private encrypted storage” and allows you to store your files privately on the blockchain.
“pDrive” is the platform that is built on “Blockstack” and just to tell you, Blockstack is “decentralized computing network and app ecosystem”. It has a plethora of apps in its ecosystem and pDrive is one of them.
With pDrive, you can upload any files to their platform and can also share it with others with a simple shareable link. This is also one of the best ways to share your files securely over a blockchain. You can also use this application as cloud storage to store your files temporarily or permanently.
Below is the example of a shareable link. We uploaded the image which you are seeing above and shared it.

Please note that, when you share the above link with others, they don’t need to have Blockstack account and they can directly download the file. If you don’t believe, just copy and paste the above link in your browser and download the file for testing.

Above are the benefits of pDrive which we found ourselves, they have not mentioned such points on their website and that is the only thing which we didn’t like about them. They should have provided some more explanations and features about their product.
One of the most interesting things about pDrive is its minimalistic design. It is really very simple to use and has a very user-friendly GUI. You can check the below screenshot where we have shown the dashboard of pDrive. We have uploaded some sample files and also created some sample folders for this tutorial.
As you can see above, you have the option to create your own folders to organize the files, but currently you cannot share complete folders with others and only files present on the system are sharable. As of now, there is no limit on the number of files that you can upload to this platform.
Signup process of pDrive
If you want to signup for pDrive, you just need Blockstack ID.
Once you click on “Sign In“, it will ask you to ‘continue with Blockstack‘. Just confirm your Blockstack account and you are good to upload and share files.
If you don’t have a Blockstack account yet, we would request you to make one, as in the coming days, we are going to share more interesting applications (DApps) that are built on their platform.
Note: This is an educational article and we don’t take any responsibility for any data loss. Please do your own research before uploading any sensitive information.
We hope you like this platform and would try to upload some of the files which you want to share with others.
Do let us know what do you think about this application which is built on Blockstack. If you like your content do not forget to subscribe as we bring such money-saving apps regularly for you.
